Public input sought for update of homelessness plan

-

Vancouver, WA – January 10, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The Washington Homelessness Housing and Assistance Act mandated in May 2005 the creation of 10-year homeless housing plans for each of the state’s counties. Clark County’s Homelessness Plan Task Force invites neighborhood leaders, elected officials, landlords, educators, low-income people and all other interested citizens to attend a planning session on Wednesday, January 12, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Center for Community Health, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Bldg. 17, Vancouver.

The seven main strategies of the plan will be reviewed at the community forum. The Council for the Homeless is coordinating the development and implementation of the plan.

Nationally, in both the advocacy and federal funding arenas, there is an increased emphasis on ending chronic homelessness.

Washington’s ultimate goal is to decrease the state’s homelessness by at least 50 percent by 2015. Federal and state efforts merge with the county’s commitment to meet the needs of homeless individuals and families.
