Vancouver, WA – September 10, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Shared housing will be the topic of a Tuesday, Sept. 17, meeting of the Commission on Aging.
The meeting will be 4:30-6 p.m. in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. It is open to the public, and a chance for Clark County residents to share concerns about needs of local residents.
Michele Fiasca and Zoe Morrison of Let’s Share Housing, based in Portland, will introduce the topic and seek input from the Commission on Aging. Let’s Share Housing is a computer matching program for unrelated people of all ages who want to share a home so they can cut costs, age in place or enjoy companionship.
Fiasca owned and operated an adult care home for 13 years. She also founded Adult Placement Network, which helps families find appropriate care settings for aging loved ones.
Morrison is a single parent who has lived in shared housing for many years. She provides anecdotes, insight and encouragement for shared housing providers and seekers.
Let’s Share Housing is seeking nonprofit status.
Following a national trend, Clark County’s population of 60+ is growing and projected to almost double by 2030. The Board of County Commissioners appointed the aging commission to help the county and local cities implement an Aging Readiness Plan. It has 91 strategies about housing, transportation, recreation, lifestyle choices, support services and civic and social engagement.
