Free fair housing accessibility training on June 6, 2012

In-depth training on disability accessibility standards for residential housing for design and construction industry professionals and housing providers

April 4, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Design and construction industry professionals, housing developers, and housing providers are invited to attend a free 8-hour Fair Housing Accessibility First training, on Wednesday, June 6, from 8 am to 5 pm at Seattle City Hall in downtown Seattle. Fair Housing Accessibility First promotes compliance with the Fair Housing Act design and construction requirements. The program offers comprehensive and detailed instruction, useful online web resources, and a toll-free information line for technical guidance. Presenters Jack Catlin (LCM Architects) and William E. Endelman (Endelman & Associates) will provide an in-depth overview of the technical standards and specifications that meet the accessibility requirements of the Fair Housing Act and Washington State building code accessibility compliance.

The training is intended for architects, designers, civil engineers, landscape architects, contractors, developers, builders and enforcement officials. Topics will include:

  • Design and construction requirements of the Fair Housing Act.
  • Accessible routes.
  • Accessible public and common-use areas.
  • Practical Fair Housing Act and Washington State Building Code Accessibility compliance.

This training is registered with the American Institute of Architects. Architects will receive up to six continuing education credits per day.
