WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 11, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — OLYMPIA…The Office of Secretary of State’s Corporations and Charities Division is sponsoring a homeowners association workshop in Spokane on Oct. 4.

The educational workshop, geared especially for homeowners association members and boards, is at the Spokane Convention Center (334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. A free continental breakfast will be available.

The event’s featured presenter is Nathan G. Smith of Witherspoon-Kelley in Spokane. Smith is a magna cum laude graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law. His practice includes land use and real estate law. Smith counsels homeowner and condominium owner associations on preparing initial governing documents and amendments, regulatory compliance and association enforcement issues.

“The workshop is going to be very interactive,” said Teresa Glidden, charity and nonprofit education coordinator for the Corporations and Charities Division. “We hope it will help association members and boards understand the law better, and what the Secretary of State’s role is in terms of registrations and renewals.”

Registrants can pay online when they register by credit or debit card. Registration is limited and available online here. For more information about the event, contact Glidden at (360) 725-0373 or teresa.glidden (at) sos.wa (dot) gov.
