NEW SEASONS MARKET WINS FIRST GREEN BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD

Vancouver, WA – (RealEstateRama) — New Seasons Market Fisher’s Landing has won the inaugural Clark County Green Business of the Year award. The store received the award, made of repurposed materials, Thursday during the annual Green Business Showcase.

New Seasons Market Fisher’s Landing won the award for its sustained commitment to the environment and implementing projects such as:

Donating food to hunger relief organizations
Hosting an annual bike fair
Using durable cups and spoons at the sampling counter
Promoting a culture of sustainability and earth consciousness
New Seasons competed against 13 other businesses for the distinction.

“New Seasons really went above and beyond this year,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. “It’s inspiring to see their commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.”

The Green Business of the Year award was designed by Vancouver resident Joe Clifton of Clifton Metal Works. He created the award using the top of a file cabinet, forks, spoons and other pieces of scrap metal.

Clifton has participated for years in the Clark County Recycled Arts Festival and constructed last year’s mascot The Tin Man.

“It was important the award also represented sustainability,” said Benton.

The annual Green Business Showcase highlights the efforts of Clark County Green Businesses. This year, more than 66 businesses registered for the event and more than 130 people attended.
