DelBene Statement on Cuts to Critical Investments in America’s Future

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 10, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) today opposed passage of the Transportation-Housing and Urban Development (T-HUD) Appropriations bill.

“I voted against the T-HUD (lack of) funding bill because it slashes critical investments in our roads, rail and ports. It also hurts American families by cutting public housing programs that are critical for low-income families,” DelBene said. “Prioritizing investments to fix our transportation infrastructure and support vulnerable families should be a bipartisan effort. It’s disappointing that House leaders decided to take up this irresponsible funding bill when our roads and bridges desperately need to be repaired and millions of families are struggling to make ends meet.”

T-HUD includes severe funding cuts for Housing Choice Vouchers, which supports nearly 50,000 low-income households in Washington state. It also includes cuts to infrastructure spending, such as TIGER grants, and would delay the implementation of crucial technology upgrades at airports around the country.
