LEARN HOW TO DESIGN A HOME FOR AGING-IN-PLACE WITH SAFETY, COMFORT
Vancouver, WA – (RealEstateRama) — The vast majority of people say they want to grow old in their current home. Over time, technology will play a key role in making aging-in-place safer, healthier and more comfortable for many seniors and their families.
Hear how to design a successful living environment for the second half of life at the Tuesday, Nov. 15, meeting of the Commission on Aging. The 4:30 p.m. meeting will be in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. It is open to the public.
Aaron D. Murphy, architect, certified aging-in-place specialist and author, will be the speaker. Murphy has vast experience in housing design and real estate. He believes we can live a longer, happier life by aging-in-place as long as possible.
The Nov. 15 discussion is the final 2016 meeting focused on housing for older people. Research shows that 87 percent of people prefer to retire in place and will need accessible, affordable housing. The Commission on Aging, supported by the Board of County Councilors, is a nine-member volunteer group that implements the Aging Readiness Plan and provides leadership addressing needs of aging community members.
