Mayor Nickels statement on Housing Levy renewal

-

SEATTLE, WA – June 11, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) – Mayor Greg Nickels issued a statement on today’s actions by the City Council’s Housing Levy Committee of the Whole to place the Housing Levy renewal on the November ballot:

Mayor Greg Nickels “Seattle voters have a long history of helping to house our most vulnerable neighbors, and with the current economy the need arguably may be greater than ever. Recognizing these are difficult economic times for everyone, I proposed a Housing Levy renewal that will ensure that our struggling families, seniors and other vulnerable people keep a roof over their heads. I applaud City Council for thoughtfully reviewing my proposal and making the tough decision to place it on the ballot. I’m confident that together as a community, we will once again demonstrate our support for those less fortunate.”
