Mobile household hazardous waste collection events begin in April

-

Vancouver, WA – Residents of Clark County and its cities will have a number of opportunities to safely remove household hazardous waste, block foam, and unwanted electronics from their homes by dropping them off at mobile collection sites located throughout the county on selected Saturdays from April 12 through November 15.

Hazardous waste – Household products such as pesticides, paints, solvents, batteries, thinners, motor oil, antifreeze, and household cleaners may be hazardous. Look for signal words such as poison, danger, warning, caution, or flammable on the label. Most types of household hazardous waste will be accepted, all wastes must be from households.

Please call Clark County Solid Waste at (360) 397-6118 ext. 4352 for information on where to properly dispose of explosives, radioactive materials, ammunition, biological material or business generated wastes.

Block foam – Foam will be accepted only from households, the foam can be any color, but it must be clean and bagged/boxed. No plastic wrapped yellow urethane foam and no hot tub covers will be accepted. Peanuts that snap when you bend them are accepted, if they are double bagged.

Electronics
Bring: Computers, monitors, TV’s, printers, answering machines, VCRs, typewriters, FAX machines, cell phones and other computer related electronics. Computers that can be reused will be refurbished, and broken equipment will be recycled.

Do not bring: Microwaves, toasters, hair dryers or other appliances, if in good condition, these may be donated to a nonprofit group (call first to make sure they will accept these items).
