Contractors to stabilize embankment in Sara, replace bridge near Proebstel
Vancouver, WA – July 30, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The start of separate bridge and road projects next week will require temporary road closures in different parts of the county.
A short section of Northwest 41st Avenue, about a 100 feet south of Northwest 179th Street in the Sara area south of Ridgefield, will close so Keystone Contracting Inc. of Ridgefield can stabilize the embankment along the road’s east side.
The slope is unstable because of erosion from Whipple Creek. Crews will stabilize the embankment by building a wall using a series of rock-filled wire baskets fastened together.
Through traffic will need to use alternate routes, such as Northwest 169th Street, Northwest 51st Avenue and Northeast 179th Street. Construction is expected to wrap before the end of September.
The second project starting next week will replace the Fifth Plain Creek Bridge on Northeast 88th Street, about a mile east of Northeast Ward Road near Proebstel.
Cascade Bridge LLC of Vancouver will replace the last wood support bridge owned by Clark County. Fifth Plain Creek Bridge also is the only county-owned bridge classified as “structurally deficient,” which means the bridge’s condition or design has affected its ability to carry traffic. The bridge is not unsafe or likely to collapse, but it is at the end of its useful life.
Through traffic will need to use alternate routes, such as Northeast Fourth Plain Road about a mile south of the bridge site. Construction is expected to be completed in December.
