Vancouver, WA – September 10, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Property owners can learn how to inspect gravity-fed septic systems, maintain wells and septic systems, and avoid costly repairs at a workshop sponsored by Clark County and Washington State University Clark County Extension.

The workshop, which also will cover small landowner assistance programs, takes place at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, in the Prairie High School auditorium, 11311 N.E. 119th St.

Cost is $15 per household. To register, call (360) 397-6060 ext. 5729 or visit www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2113225.

“The training helps home and property owners protect their property, health and drinking water,” said Chuck Harman, Public Health program manager. “Properly maintaining septic systems and wells helps ensure they will run effectively and provide long-term service.”

The workshop anticipates national Septic Smart Week, Sept. 21-25. Clark County and WSU Extension are encouraging the more than 35,000 Clark County homes and businesses that use septic systems to make sure they are effectively treating wastewater. Good siting, design, installation and ongoing maintenance are essential for treatment and protection of the property owner’s investment.
