Vancouver, WA – February 5, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The average Clark County resident sends 3.1 pounds of waste to a landfill every day.
Think you can do better? Clark County Environmental Services is looking for households to compete in the county’s waste reduction challenge.
After a successful pilot program in the spring of 2012, Clark County will launch a second Wastebusters competition on March 9.
Wastebusters pits households against each other in a good-natured competition to reduce their overall waste and encourage others to do the same.
Participants will be expected to attend an orientation, record weekly trash volume and submit updates about what they are learning.
They will receive weekly instructions and challenges to promote waste reduction, reuse and recycling, as well as worm bins and other items to help reduce waste.
All participants will be honored at the end of the challenge. The household with the biggest improvement will be awarded a prize and the title “Top Wastebuster.”
Clark County’s competition will be tracked online. Information also will be posted with ideas for what you can do in your home.
County residents interested in the Wastebusters challenge should explain, in a couple of paragraphs, why they want to participate and submit a request by Feb. 15 to: Serena.Calder (at) clark.wa (dot) gov.
