Murray Applauds Investments in Washington State Airports to Boost Infrastructure, Economic Growth
Washington, D.C. – April 28, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a senior member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, applauded the U.S. Department of Transportation’s announcement that ten airports across Washington state will receive over $13 million in federal grants. The grants will make critical improvements to the airports in order to handle increased air traffic, assess short- and long-term needs, and promote economic growth in both urban and rural areas.
“These investments are great news for Washington state families, small business owners, and communities who depend on safe, reliable airports to connect our cities and drive the local economy,” said Senator Patty Murray. “Investing in our infrastructure is one of the single best ways to ensure our economic competitiveness for decades to come.”
Breakdown of funding is as follows:
- $400,000 to William R Fairchild International Airport in Port Angeles to update the airport master plan study
- $300,000 to Lopez Island Airport at the Port of Lopez to update the airport master plan study
- $750,000 to Boeing Field/King County International Airport in King County to update the airport master plan study
- $403,136 to Ephrata Municipal Airport at the Port of Ephrata to rehabilitate 7,400 feet of runway
- $450,000 to Bowers Field Airport in Kittitas County to update the airport master plan study
- $300,000 to Prosser Airport at the Port of Benton to update the airport master plan study
- $500,000 to Walla Walla Regional Airport at the Port of Walla Walla to update the airport master plan study
- $270,000 to Wilbur Airport in Wilbur to update the airport master plan study
- $459,022 to Spokane International Airport in Spokane to rehabilitate 27,500 square yards of apron pavement
- $9,315,263 to Bellingham International Airport in Bellingham for construction reimbursements for the 70,000 square foot terminal building expansion
